DC Central Kitchen Celebrates Black History Month

On Wednesday, February 23, DC Central Kitchen celebrated Black History month with a wonderful concoction of learning, merriment, and great food. Three chefs from surrounding area restaurants visited with our trainees to share their services and expertise in both food preparation and culinary presentation.

Visiting chefs included Gillian Clark, chef and owner at the Colorado Kitchen, Leon Baker, pastry chef at Signatures, and Zed Wondemu, chef and owner at Zed's Ethiopian Restaurant.

From 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, our three guests worked with trainees of the 59th job training class, passing on knowledge and skills of the trade. Following the presentation of their creations, a Kitchen wide food tasting took place, resulting in many happy faces, and full stomachs.

Thanks so much to our guest chefs, and Happy Black History Month to all!
